Tragic Family Violence Leads to Double Homicide and Fatal Police Altercation
TAYLOR, Ariz. – A chilling incident on June 15 resulted in the deaths of Troy, 62, and Cynthia Templeton, 53, found shot in their home in Taylor, Arizona. The discovery was made by Cynthia’s ex-husband, who was returning their children. Following the discovery, police quickly identified Cynthia’s 23-year-old son, Francis Alcantar-Chavez, as a person of interest.
A nationwide alert was issued for Francis and his vehicle. Two days later, on June 17, police in Missouri pursued him after he was spotted on a motorcycle. During the chase, Francis crashed into a patrol vehicle and allegedly opened fire on officers, striking one in a ballistic vest. In response, law enforcement returned fire, fatally shooting him.
Authorities confirmed the injured trooper is expected to recover. The Snowflake-Taylor Police Department continues to investigate the case, assuring the communities of Snowflake and Taylor that there is no ongoing threat. "We want to reassure our public that our community is safe," said Lt. Derick Ortiz. This devastating sequence of events highlights ongoing concerns regarding family violence and public safety.
