Thunder Showcase ‘Blood and Guts’ to Even NBA Finals Against Pacers

The Oklahoma City Thunder achieved a remarkable feat in their season, making the NBA Finals with a maximum losing streak of just two games. In Game 4 against the Indiana Pacers, the Thunder faced the risk of falling behind 3-1 in the series—a deficit only overcome once in NBA history. Despite trailing for much of the game, Oklahoma City pulled off a comeback, winning 111-104 to level the series at 2-2. Coach Mark Daigneault praised the team’s resilience in what he called a “blood-and-guts win.”

The Pacers, known for their clutch performance, faltered when it mattered most, getting outscored by 14 points in the fourth quarter. Star players Pascal Siakam and Tyrese Haliburton contributed 20 and 18 points, respectively, but the team struggled offensively in critical moments, managing only five points in the last four minutes. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the Thunder’s MVP, rebounded from an off game with a stellar performance, scoring 35 points, including 15 of the final 16 for his team.

Oklahoma City’s strategy shifted as they reintroduced center Isaiah Hartenstein to the starting lineup. Although the Thunder’s 3-point shooting was subpar, hitting only three all game, they made up for it at the free-throw line. The team benefited from key contributions from reserves, including Alex Caruso’s 20 points. The duo of Gilgeous-Alexander and Caruso ultimately turned the game in the final moments, giving the Thunder their first lead late in the fourth quarter, which they maintained to secure the win. Game 5 is set for Monday in Oklahoma City, with both teams eager to take control of the series.
