Gilgeous-Alexander Shines in Fourth Quarter as Thunder Comeback Against Pacers

Thunder Storm Back to Level NBA Finals Against Pacers

INDIANAPOLIS – In a thrilling Game 4 of the NBA Finals, the Oklahoma City Thunder staged a dramatic comeback to defeat the Indiana Pacers 111-104, leveling the series at two games apiece. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 35 points, including a crucial 15 in the fourth quarter, demonstrating why he is the league’s MVP.

The Thunder faced a 10-point deficit in the second half but rallied impressively with a late-game surge. Jalen Williams also contributed significantly with 27 points, while Alex Caruso added 20 and Chet Holmgren recorded a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds. Remarkably, the Thunder achieved this victory with a season-low of just three three-pointers, and Gilgeous-Alexander had no assists for the first time all season.

The Pacers, who started strong and led by nine early in the game, had notable performances from Pascal Siakam with 20 points, as well as Tyrese Haliburton and Obi Toppin, who scored 18 and 17 points respectively. However, Indiana’s hopes faltered in the final quarter as the Thunder’s defense tightened and their offense found its rhythm.

In a game filled with intensity, tensions flared between the two teams, culminating in consecutive Flagrant 1 fouls on Toppin and Lu Dort. The game saw numerous ties late in the fourth quarter, but Gilgeous-Alexander’s pivotal step-back jumper with 2:23 remaining secured Oklahoma City its first lead of the half, which they maintained until the final buzzer.

Now, with the series tied and Game 5 approaching in Oklahoma City, the Thunder have regained home-court advantage and revitalized their title chase. Historically, teams with a 3-1 advantage in the NBA Finals have won the championship in 37 of 38 instances, underscoring the significance of this victory for Oklahoma City.
