Greg Stanton expressed their views on the volatile situation. Rep. Yassamin Ansari, the only Iranian American Democrat in Congress, emphasized the urgent need for de-escalation to prevent a catastrophic war. She condemned the Iranian regime’s pursuit of nuclear weapons and advocated for a transition to a democratic government that respects the Iranian people’s rights. Ansari criticized President Donald Trump’s failed diplomatic efforts in the region, arguing that asserting power through military strikes contradicts constructive foreign policy.
Rep. Greg Stanton, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, underscored the necessity for ongoing dialogue. He is currently in discussions with the Israeli consul general regarding the intelligence behind the airstrikes and reiterated his commitment to seeking long-term stability in the region while reaffirming Israel’s right to defend itself against threats.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that the U.S. had no direct role in the strikes. Trump hinted earlier this week that such actions by Israel were possible.
