Man Found Guilty of Impersonating Flight Attendant for 120+ Free Flights

Tiron Alexander, a 35-year-old man, was convicted of fraudulently posing as a flight attendant for four airlines, managing to obtain 120 free flights over several years. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida announced his conviction on June 5 for entering secure airport areas under false pretenses and committing wire fraud. Between 2018 and 2024, Alexander exploited a process designed for legitimate employees, falsely providing his employer details, date of hire, and multiple badge numbers to book flights reserved exclusively for pilots and flight attendants.

Federal prosecutors detailed that he successfully flew with one airline 34 times, while claiming affiliation with seven different airlines and using around 30 unique badge numbers. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) conducted the investigation, revealing that Alexander deceived not only one airline but three others as well, accumulating more than 120 flights under false claims.

Despite an indictment claiming he had employment with an airline in Dallas since November 2015, Alexander had never actually held a position as either a pilot or a flight attendant. The legal ramifications of his actions are significant, as the maximum penalty for wire fraud is 20 years in prison, with an additional 10 years for entering secure airport areas under false pretenses. Both charges could also result in three years of supervised release and a possible $250,000 fine. His sentencing is scheduled for August 25. Public defenders for Alexander have not commented on the case following NBC News’ request.
