Tucson Community Shocked by Domestic Violence Incident
TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) — A disturbing case of domestic violence has left the Tucson community in shock as Jasmin Rede continues her fight for survival in a local hospital. Her brother, Pedro Rede, reported that Jasmin’s condition is improving, despite the brutal circumstances. The incident, which occurred on Monday afternoon, saw Jasmin stabbed up to eight times by her now ex-boyfriend, Caid Stough, at their shared home.
According to police reports, the altercation began when Stough accused Jasmin of infidelity. He admitted to grabbing a large knife during the confrontation, leading to the horrific stabbing. Stough later inflicted a non-life-threatening injury on himself, claiming he couldn’t cope with his actions. The couple, who have two children together, had reportedly ended their relationship but were still living together.
Pedro, who spoke exclusively to News 4 Tucson while en route to be by his sister’s side, expressed his heartbreak and confusion over the incident. "I just badly want to ask him why, what made you do this to her?” he lamented. He thanked the first responders and medical staff for their efforts in saving Jasmin’s life and highlighted the outpouring of support from friends and family.
To help with Jasmin’s medical expenses and support her three children, who are currently in the care of their grandparents, the family has set up a GoFundMe page.
Stough has been charged with attempted manslaughter and is currently held on a $1 million bond after appearing before a judge. His next court date is scheduled for September 6th.
This case has sparked a conversation around domestic violence and its devastating impact, leaving the community to reflect on how to address such critical issues.
