Press Release: Former Town Employee Faces Charges for Embezzlement
LA PAZ COUNTY, Ariz. — Jennifer Alcaida, a former office specialist for the Town of Parker, is facing serious criminal charges, including fraud and theft, as a result of an extensive embezzlement scheme. An audit conducted by the Arizona Auditor General revealed that Alcaida allegedly misappropriated approximately $173,000 from town funds over several months.
Starting in summer 2021, Alcaida reportedly began issuing checks from the town’s payroll stock, depositing them into her personal bank account. According to the audit, she later confessed to the Town manager about her actions, admitting to forging signatures. The investigation highlighted that she transferred funds using bitcoin and instructed others to cash checks for her contacts.
Additionally, Alcaida is accused of using town credit cards for $4,600 worth of personal expenses, including Apple products and high-end men’s colognes. Town officials have since implemented enhanced oversight measures, appointing an outside entity to verify payroll account statements and conducting unannounced record reviews.
Alcaida’s court case is still ongoing as the community addresses this significant breach of trust.
