Arizona Humane Society Waives Adoption Fees for National Best Friend Day
PHOENIX — In a heartwarming gesture to celebrate National Best Friend Day, the Arizona Humane Society (AHS) has announced it will waive adoption fees for all pets, including puppies and kittens, on Saturday. This special event will take place at all three AHS adoption locations, open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
AHS is currently caring for nearly 2,000 pets and aims to ease crowding in its shelters. By encouraging the community to adopt, the organization hopes to free up space for more animals in need, including those that are sick or injured. One such success story is Darla, a one-year-old Labrador Retriever mix, who required a leg amputation after being rescued as a stray.
The nonprofit anticipates that approximately 24,000 pets will enter its care this year, marking a 10% increase from 2024. Interested adopters can find more information on available animals on AHS’s website. Additionally, AHS seeks “Foster Heroes” to help care for animals in need.
