Arizona Athletics Achieves Record Academic Success in Spring 2025
TUCSON, Ariz. – The Spring 2025 semester marked a remarkable season for Arizona Athletics, capturing three Big 12 Conference Championships and sending 12 teams to NCAA postseason play. This athletic success was paralleled by academic achievement, with student-athletes collectively posting a record-high GPA of 3.389—the highest in school history. This achievement signifies the 15th consecutive semester with a minimum GPA of 3.0, establishing a historic streak for the department.
The cumulative GPA rose to 3.400, also setting a new record, while women’s teams achieved a semester GPA of 3.573 and men’s teams logged a GPA of 3.211. Vice President and Director of Athletics Desiree Reed-Francois praised the student-athletes for their dedication in balancing competition and academics.
Nine teams, including Baseball and Football, set individual program records for GPA, and Gymnastics led with a stellar 3.802 GPA. Notably, 81% of student-athletes earned GPAs of 3.0 or higher, and 24.6% achieved a perfect 4.0. Arizona’s Graduation Success Rate reached 90%, and three student-athletes garnered Big 12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors. This academic success underscores Arizona’s commitment to excellence on and off the field.
