Diamondbacks Triumph Over Braves with Stellar Performances
In a commanding display, the Arizona Diamondbacks secured an 8-3 victory against the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday, powered by standout performances from Zac Gallen, Corbin Carroll, and Ketel Marte. Gallen pitched a solid seven innings, allowing just one earned run on four hits while exhibiting impressive control with only one walk.
Carroll and Marte each shone offensively, hitting two home runs for the first time this season, and together they reached base nine times throughout the game. The Diamondbacks demonstrated their power at the plate, scoring seven of their eight runs via home runs and scoring in five of the nine innings.
Gallen started strong, needing only 23 pitches to navigate through three perfect innings, with notable help from Carroll’s leaping catch at the wall. The Diamondbacks made a strategic decision to replace Gallen with Shelby Miller in the eighth inning to face Atlanta’s top lineup. Miller delivered a crucial performance, navigating a tight spot after two singles, enabling the D-backs to maintain their edge. Carroll later sealed the win with a three-run homer in the ninth.
The duo of Carroll and Marte finished the night with a combined six hits, seven RBIs, and three walks, marking a historic first for the franchise. Carroll’s impressive performance elevated his OPS to .914, while Marte’s rose to 1.014, placing them among the league’s top offensive contributors.
As the Diamondbacks (29-31) look to secure a series win, they are set to face the Braves (27-32) again on Wednesday evening, with Merrill Kelly taking the mound.
