Phoenix, AZ – In a significant federal initiative, more than 250 individuals were charged with immigration-related offenses in Arizona last week. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona reported that during operations conducted between May 24 and May 30, a total of 257 people faced charges. Among those, 125 cases involved foreign nationals who illegally re-entered the United States, while 124 pertained to initial illegal entries. Additionally, eight individuals were charged in seven cases connected to the smuggling of foreign citizens into and within the state.

One notable case occurred in Mesa on May 28, when authorities discovered Mexican national Jesus Fernando Jimenez Rodriguez inside a residence following a search warrant. Police reported finding an alarming cache of ammunition, including 10,000 rounds of PMC 5.56 and 25,000 rounds of Wolf .223. Jimenez Rodriguez now faces charges for possession of ammunition as an alien and illegal re-entry.

This operation is part of the federal initiative dubbed Operation Take Back America, aimed at utilizing the Department of Justice to combat illegal immigration effectively.
