Joyce Dixon Celebrates 50th Consecutive Appearance at USBC Women’s Championships
LAS VEGAS – Joyce Dixon of Mesa, Arizona, marked a remarkable milestone by celebrating her 50th consecutive appearance at the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Women’s Championships. Known for her passion for bowling and her commitment to fostering a supportive community, Dixon received a heartfelt reception from friends and family, including a surprise visit from over a dozen supporters, who gathered at the South Point Bowling Plaza.
During the celebration, she was honored with a plaque, chevron, and a commemorative necklace. Reflecting on her journey, Dixon expressed gratitude for the relationships she has built in the sport. “It’s been an adventure,” she said, recalling her debut at the tournaments in 1975 in Indianapolis.
Dixon, a Hall of Famer in both the Lake Havasu City and Arizona Women’s Bowling Associations, highlighted the importance of encouraging younger bowlers. Her inspiring message, “You are good enough,” resonates as she continues to motivate others to pursue their bowling dreams. Aspiring to reach 55 years at the Women’s Championships, Dixon emphasizes the joy of camaraderie and personal growth in the sport.
