Arizona Sports Betting Soars to $700 Million in February
Phoenix, AZ – Arizona’s sports betting handle experienced a notable surge, reaching $700 million in February 2025, a 9.8% increase compared to the same month last year, according to the latest data from the Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG). This rise marks a significant milestone in the state’s gaming sector, although the all-time high remains at $897.6 million, achieved in November 2024.
The state generated approximately $4 million in privilege fees from this robust betting activity. Over $64.6 million was recorded in adjusted gross event wagering receipts prior to any free bet deductions. Notably, online wagering dominated the field, contributing the entirety of the gross receipts, while retail betting accounted for a mere $76,680.
In tandem with this growth, the ADG announced the issuance of cease-and-desist orders to multiple unlicensed gambling operators, both domestic and international. These operators were found to be illegally providing gaming services, including casino-style slots, sports wagering, and horse racing betting, to Arizona residents without the necessary state authorization.
“This represents a significant threat to consumer protection, as these operators do not abide by Arizona’s stringent regulatory requirements, exposing residents to financial risks,” stated the ADG in a formal announcement.
As sports wagering continues to rapidly expand in Arizona, state regulators remain vigilant in safeguarding against unauthorized operations, ensuring that residents participate in a regulated and secure gaming environment. With the rising popularity of sports betting, the ADG is likely to bolster its oversight to maintain integrity and protect consumers in this booming market.
