Weather Update: Scattered Showers and Thunderstorms Expected in Phoenix

PHOENIX – After morning showers, the Valley can expect a brief calm before afternoon scattered showers and thunderstorms develop. Rainfall amounts may vary, with some areas recording a few hundredths of an inch while others could see 0.25 to 0.5 inches, depending on the storm formations. Higher terrains north and east of Phoenix may receive over 0.5 inches.

A Flood Watch is in effect for much of southern Arizona, including Tucson, from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. today, with the likelihood of strong thunderstorms, blowing dust, and small hail particularly in southwest Arizona and southeast California this afternoon.

While some showers may linger into Monday morning, forecasts suggest that most precipitation will remain north and east of the Valley. Attention will be given to this evolving situation.

The start of June brings atypical temperatures, with highs in the low 90s today and Monday. Temperatures are expected to rise to the upper 90s on Tuesday and Wednesday, with triple digits returning by Thursday, peaking in the low to mid 100s over the weekend.
