MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — Major League Pickleball (MLP) is back in the Valley, hosted by the Phoenix Flames at the Arizona Athletic Grounds, marking its first visit since 2023. Commissioner Samin Odhwani praised the venue, describing it as one of the best in the world, noting the beautiful landscape and perfect weather for evening matches.

The weekend event features 22 local teams in two tiers: Premier and Challenger, making it the league’s fourth regular season contest. Odhwani emphasized the high-energy atmosphere, declaring that fans are in for a fantastic experience.

Among the professional players, Alex Walker, who relocated from Canada two years ago for pickleball, expressed her enthusiasm for the sport and the welcoming community in Phoenix. “Arizona has just been such an amazing place to continue our pickleball journey,” she said, highlighting the friendships and training opportunities available.

The tournament runs through Sunday, with officials prepared for any weather, as the championship court is covered, ensuring matches proceed regardless of rain. Fans can look forward to an exhilarating weekend of competitive pickleball.
