Possible Heavy Rain This Weekend as Tropical Moisture Moves into Arizona

Weather Alert: Significant Changes Ahead for Arizona

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The Valley is starting the day with mostly sunny skies, which are expected to shift to partly cloudy conditions by afternoon. Temperatures are climbing to a high of 104 degrees, four degrees above the seasonal average. However, a major weather shift is expected over the weekend due to a cut-off low pressure system to the southwest and Tropical Storm Alvin, which is moving north along Mexico’s coast.

As Tropical Storm Alvin dissipates by Sunday, its moisture will surge into Arizona, leading to scattered showers on Saturday and increased rain and thunderstorm chances from Sunday through Monday morning. Sunday and Monday are classified as First Alert Weather Days, with rain probabilities at 20% Saturday night, increasing to 50% Sunday and 80% Sunday evening. Valley neighborhoods could see between a quarter and an inch of rain, with potential localized flooding.

Temperatures will drop to around 94 degrees on Sunday before remaining in the 90s through mid-week, followed by another warm-up. Stay tuned for updates on this dynamic weather situation.
