Arizona influencer Emilie Kiser filed a lawsuit on Tuesday against several Maricopa County public offices to keep the details surrounding her 3-year-old son Trigg’s death private. Trigg died from injuries after a drowning incident in a backyard pool on May 12, and remained hospitalized in critical condition for six days before passing away on May 18, according to the Chandler Police Department. Emilie, who has a significant following on TikTok, expressed the family’s desire to grieve in private amid a media frenzy that erupted after Trigg’s death.
The lawsuit addresses over 100 public records requests made to the city of Chandler and the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office, triggered by the accidental nature of Trigg’s death. Kiser noted that she has not reviewed these records, which include police reports, security footage, and autopsy information, nor does she intend to. The suit emphasizes Arizona law, which recognizes a family’s compelling interest in privacy regarding the death of a loved one, arguing that disclosing sensitive death-related materials can cause further trauma to grieving relatives.
The lawsuit names various municipal offices, including the city of Chandler and the Chandler Police Department. Both entities have declined to comment on the ongoing litigation. Emilie Kiser has refrained from posting on social media since the incident, highlighting the family’s struggle to cope with their loss amid public scrutiny.
