John Laurinaitis, a co-defendant in a lawsuit against former WWE chairman Vince McMahon, has agreed to cooperate with accuser Janel Grant and provide evidence in her case. Laurinaitis, a former wrestler and WWE executive, reached a confidential settlement with Grant, resulting in the dismissal of her lawsuit against him with prejudice—meaning it cannot be refiled.
In a statement released by their representatives, it was noted that Laurinaitis’ cooperation is a significant step towards holding McMahon and WWE accountable for the alleged sexual abuse and trafficking that Grant has accused them of enduring. While Laurinaitis looks forward to moving on with his life, specific details about the settlement were not disclosed.
This development follows an amended civil complaint filed by Grant against McMahon, Laurinaitis, and WWE just weeks prior. In January 2024, McMahon resigned from his role as executive chairman of TKO Group Holdings, WWE’s parent company, in light of Grant’s lawsuit. Furthermore, in January 2025, he settled charges from the Securities and Exchange Commission for failing to inform the WWE board about non-disclosure agreements he signed with two women in relation to his sexual conduct, agreeing to pay a civil penalty and reimburse WWE.
McMahon’s wife, Linda McMahon, is currently serving as the secretary of the U.S. Department of Education under President Donald Trump, a close associate of the couple. As the case progresses, both the legal implications for McMahon and the ongoing quest for justice by Grant remain pivotal.
