Diamondbacks’ Ejection and Late Collapse Lead to Loss Against Rockies

Thompson entered the game with Arizona ahead 11-10 but left trailing 13-11 after allowing two singles and two home runs in less than an inning of work. In the midst of this struggle, Thompson publicly argued with umpires over a disengagement call involving shortstop Ezequiel Tovar. The situation escalated to the ejection of bench coach Jeff Banister, marking his 17th career ejection, after home plate umpire Jordan Baker ordered Thompson to settle down. Banister had previously garnered recognition as the AL Manager of the Year in 2015 with the Texas Rangers.
Despite closing the gap with a run in the eighth inning, Arizona was unable to recover from the Rockies’ onslaught, which included five home runs overall.
