These incidents involved a telecommunications issue at Philadelphia TRACON’s Area C, prompting the FAA to slow flight traffic to ensure system stability.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy acknowledged the concerns raised over the Newark situation, attributing the issues to telecommunications glitches and outdated monitoring systems. He assured the public of the airport’s safety while indicating a reduction in capacity for the upcoming weeks. Duffy stated that he would gather airlines serving Newark to discuss these challenges.
