Jordan Lawlar Recalled to the Diamondbacks: Exciting Prospect Joins Team in San Francisco
Phoenix, AZ – The Arizona Diamondbacks are set to elevate infielder Jordan Lawlar to the major league roster from Triple-A Reno, as confirmed by Nick Piecoro of AZCentral.com. Lawlar will be joining the D-backs in San Francisco as they kick off a three-game series against the Giants on Monday.
Lawlar, 22, has been nothing short of spectacular this season, boasting a .336 batting average with a .993 OPS in Triple-A. Over 37 games, he has recorded six home runs, 15 doubles, and 13 stolen bases, leading the Pacific Coast League in extra-base hits and total bases. Recently named Pacific Coast League Player of the Month for April, he has showcased his potential as a top prospect in the organization.
“I’ve come to the field every day with the mindset of being a big leaguer,” Lawlar stated ahead of his call-up. He entered the season amidst a crowded infield but proved he was ready after a strong spring training, following a year marred by injuries that limited his play to just 23 games in 2023.
Manager Torey Lovullo expressed confidence in Lawlar’s abilities, noting that he could impact the game both offensively and defensively, having played multiple infield positions during his development. Lawlar’s versatility could position him for three to four starts each week, as the team looks to integrate his talents into their lineup.
Having made his MLB debut last September, Lawlar has been dedicated to honing his skills from the sidelines while recovering from injury. The D-backs have high expectations for the 2021 No. 6 overall pick as they aim for continued success this season.
