PHOENIX — Corbin Burnes delivered a standout performance in his best outing since joining the Arizona Diamondbacks, leading the team to a 3-0 victory against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Burnes dominated on the mound, shutting out the Dodgers over seven innings while allowing just five hits and two walks, striking out five batters.
Following a brief hiatus due to shoulder inflammation, Burnes credited his recent work with pitching coach Brian Kaplan for the marked improvement in his signature pitch, the cutter. "I thought this was the best I’ve felt on the mound this year," he remarked, emphasizing the positive developments he’d noticed in his pitch’s movement.
Burnes’ cutter, which has been a reliable weapon since his Cy Young season in 2021, showed significant improvement with a velocity uptick from 93.9 mph to 94.9 mph.
