Diamondbacks’ Pfaadt Dominates Dodgers with Stellar Performance
Phoenix, AZ — Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Brandon Pfaadt showcased his prowess on Thursday, delivering an impressive 6.1 shutout innings against the rival Los Angeles Dodgers. With this victory, Pfaadt improved his record to 6-2 in just eight starts this season, confirming his growing confidence on the mound.
Pfaadt’s consistent performance has been a critical factor for the Diamondbacks, as he has pitched at least six innings in six of his outings, earning three consecutive wins over the NL West-leading Dodgers. Over this stretch, he recorded 23 strikeouts and allowed just five earned runs, emphasizing his capability to log length while securing wins.
In an interview with Wolf & Luke, Pfaadt stated, “We’re hitting on all the goals that we wanted to at the beginning of the season. Going deeper into the games is one of the most important things for me.” He aims to set a career-best in innings pitched, currently holding 181.2 innings from 32 starts last season.
Pfaadt leads the Diamondbacks’ pitching rotation with a 3.28 ERA and has walked only ten batters this season. His teammates are noting the evolution of his game; fellow pitcher Ryne Nelson remarked on Pfaadt’s improvement: “I think that it’s all just coming together for him.”
After a tough outing against the Philadelphia Phillies, Pfaadt managed to reset and refocus against the Dodgers, stranding five runners and producing two 1-2-3 innings. Notably, he hasn’t allowed a home run in his last 96 batters faced at Chase Field.
Next, Pfaadt will take the mound against the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks aim to break a 1-1 tie in their season series against the Dodgers on Saturday, with Corbin Burnes slated to start for Arizona.
