Arizona Wildcats Advance to Big 12 Championship After Thrilling Semifinal Win

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The No. 13 Arizona Wildcats showcased their resilience as they overcame a two-run deficit to defeat Iowa State 6-3 in the semifinals of the Big 12 Championship on Friday night. With this victory, Arizona improved to an impressive 45-10 for the season.

Iowa State struck first in the second inning with a two-run homer, but Arizona quickly responded, tying the game in the third when Devyn Netz drove in two runs with a single. Despite Iowa State regaining the lead, the Wildcats displayed determination, tying the game once more in the fourth.

The pivotal moment came in the fifth inning, when Sydney Stewart launched her 17th home run of the season—a three-run shot that propelled Arizona to a firm 6-3 lead. Netz not only contributed offensively but also excelled on the mound, earning her 22nd win of the season after pitching 5.1 innings and striking out three.

Arizona now sets its sights on the Big 12 Championship, where they will face top-seeded Texas Tech on May 10 at 9 a.m. MST at Devon Park.
