Two Tucson Teens Arrested in Connection with Shooting During High-Speed Chase
PHOENIX – Authorities have arrested two teenagers in Tucson on federal charges related to a shooting that occurred during a high-speed car chase last month. The arrests were announced this week by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona.
On April 20, a plain-clothes officer from the Tucson Police Department, operating in an unmarked vehicle, observed a car speeding near Stone Avenue and Fort Lowell Road. The officer followed the vehicle and communicated the license plate number to fellow officers. During the incident, one of the car’s occupants allegedly fired multiple shots at the officer’s vehicle; fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Following a brief chase, the vehicle was lost, prompting detectives to take over the investigation. They identified 19-year-olds Hassan Omar Kassim and Alexandra Brooke Wisdom as key suspects. Wisdom was reportedly in the car both before and after the shooting, which they abandoned after fleeing.
Both teens face several charges, including possession of a firearm in furtherance of a violent crime. Their prosecution falls under the U.S. Department of Justice’s National Public Safety Partnership, aimed at bolstering support for local law enforcement.
