Arizona Cardinals Face Ongoing Challenges in Offensive Line Depth Ahead of Season
The Arizona Cardinals have made significant roster changes this offseason, particularly bolstering their defensive front, but concerns linger about their offensive line. As the NFL prepares for 53-man roster cutdowns, attention is turning to the Cardinals’ interior offensive line, which could use further enhancement.
According to Pro Football Focus’ Trevor Sikkema, the team’s starting trio—Hjalte Froholdt at center, Evan Brown at left guard, and Isaiah Adams at right guard—have shown mixed results. Froholdt and Brown secured pass-blocking grades of 76.9 and 69.5, respectively, over the course of the 2024 season. However, Adams, who ranked 56th among 136 qualified guards in run-blocking and 93rd in pass-blocking, has raised concerns following a rocky first season after being taken in the third round of the 2024 draft.
With veteran Will Hernandez currently a free agent and recovering from an ACL injury, Arizona’s offensive line depth remains uncertain. While Brown returns for his second year with the team after signing a two-year deal, competition at right guard could intensify with the emergence of Hayden Conner, a sixth-round pick in 2025, and Jon Gaines II, a fourth-round pick from 2023 who has yet to make his mark.
The Cardinals’ offensive line’s stability is crucial, particularly if injuries strike, given Brown’s history of versatility at both guard and center. The potential for Froholdt to shift to center in such scenarios could exacerbate the depth concerns in guard positions.
As the offseason continues, it’s clear the Cardinals must address their offensive line challenges to ensure a stronger performance in the upcoming season.
