Arizona Set for a Major Warm-Up This Mother’s Day Weekend

Arizonans Brace for Heat Wave This Weekend

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A significant warm-up is set to begin across Arizona, with temperatures soaring this weekend during the state’s First Alert Weather Days. A lingering storm system is finally moving out today, allowing for clearer skies and a peak temperature of 96 degrees in Phoenix—four degrees above the seasonal norm.

Despite the sunshine, the Valley is under a High Pollution Advisory due to elevated ozone levels, which could impact vulnerable populations, including children and those with respiratory issues. As low pressure drifts eastward, high pressure will dominate the weather, driving temperatures up sharply.

Expect temperatures to reach triple digits starting tomorrow, with highs of 104 degrees on Saturday and 106 degrees on Sunday. These days have been classified as First Alert Weather Days due to a moderate heat risk.

Looking ahead to early next week, forecasts indicate a cool-down as another area of low pressure moves into the region, potentially dropping temperatures to around 90 degrees by Tuesday and the upper 80s by Wednesday. Residents are advised to stay hydrated and take precautions against the heat.
