GCU Set to Face No. 22 Arizona in Home Finale
Phoenix, Ariz. – Grand Canyon University (GCU) baseball is gearing up for a crucial matchup against the No. 22 Arizona Wildcats on Tuesday night at Brazell Field at GCU Ballpark. The game, streamed on ESPN+, will determine the winner of the three-game season series, with GCU winning the first encounter 11-5 and Arizona leveling the series at 14-4 in their last meeting.
A vital aspect of the game will be junior first baseman Zach Yorke, who is on the brink of breaking GCU’s Division I records for home runs and RBIs. He is just one homer away from a record-setting 30 and needs four RBIs to surpass 155. In addition, Yorke is close to achieving 200 career hits.
The Lopes have shown significant improvement in their defensive play, committing only one error in their last nine games and raising their fielding percentage to .970.
Arizona, entering the game with an impressive 33-14 record, features top performers like Mason White and Aaron Walton. The Wildcats hope to continue building momentum after a recent home series win against TCU.
Following this game, GCU will take a WAC bye weekend to face Stanford in a nonconference series.
