Chandler Family Displaced After Suspected Arson
CHANDLER, Ariz. — A Chandler family is reeling after their home was engulfed in flames, an incident officials are treating as a possible act of arson. Homeowner Josh Steele awoke to chaos early Sunday, with smoke filling the air and his daughters yelling for help. Thankfully, all family members escaped unharmed, but the house, where Steele had lived for six years, is now a total loss.
Chandler police announced they are searching for a person of interest linked to the case, which Steele suspects to be a former family friend. According to Steele, this man had worked for his late father-in-law and had lived with the family until concerns over his mental health led to his departure. Last summer, this individual allegedly set Steele’s backyard on fire and was charged with arson in 2024.
While police have yet to confirm the suspect’s identity, Steele and his neighbors believe they know who is responsible. As the family begins the recovery process, they are grateful for community support and a GoFundMe has been organized to aid them in their time of need.
