A social media video shows a female server displaying an anti-Jewish sign, which a male companion repeatedly echoed. Temple University has identified the student involved and placed them on interim suspension, stating that any additional students connected to the incident would face strict disciplinary measures, including possible expulsion. University President John Fry condemned the act, declaring antisemitism intolerable at the institution.
Barstool CEO Dave Portnoy, who is Jewish, reacted strongly to the incident. Initially expressing outrage, he discussed his intense emotional response in a social media video labeled an “emergency press conference.” He later softened his approach, suggesting that the situation could serve as a “teaching moment.” Portnoy announced that the two bottle service workers involved would be fired and mentioned ongoing efforts to identify all parties connected to the incident.
To promote understanding and reflection, Portnoy indicated that he had communicated with those responsible and their families, proposing that they visit Auschwitz for educational purposes. He emphasized the hope that this experience would foster awareness regarding the impact of such words and actions.
