Harvard Men’s Tennis Ends Season at NCAA Tournament
TUCSON, AZ – The No. 21 Harvard men’s tennis team concluded its season on Saturday, suffering a 4-0 defeat to No. 10 Arizona in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Despite the lopsided score, the Crimson demonstrated competitive spirit throughout the match.
Head Coach Andrew Rueb expressed pride in his team’s performance, extending gratitude to graduating seniors Daniel Milavsky and David Lins for their standout contributions. The duo set a remarkable tone early by dominating Arizona’s No. 45 ranked pair with a 6-2 victory in doubles. However, Arizona clinched the doubles point with victories on the other two courts.
In singles action, Arizona took control, with Casper Christensen defeating Harvard’s Mitchell Lee in straight sets. Milavsky, ranked No. 34 nationally, faced a tough battle against No. 5 Colton Smith but ultimately fell 6-3, 6-3. Benjamin Privara had a promising start but lost in three sets, sealing the match for Arizona.
Rueb acknowledged Arizona’s talent, stating, "They are #10 in the country for a reason." He expressed confidence that the experience gained will benefit returning players next season.
