Arizona Football Welcomes ASU Transfer Keona Peat Amid Family Ties
TUCSON, AZ – A significant shift in the Arizona football landscape has occurred as former Arizona State University (ASU) offensive lineman Keona Peat has committed to the University of Arizona. Peat’s transfer not only brings athletic talent but also strengthens family ties, as he is the older brother of Koa Peat, a five-star forward recently signed to the UA men’s basketball team.
Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 265 pounds, Keona Peat has played sporadically for ASU over the last two seasons, participating in just two games and logging 15 snaps. With three years of eligibility remaining, he will provide the Wildcats with much-needed depth at center, particularly as they aim to fill the void left by previous four-year starter Josh Baker.
Transfers between ASU and Arizona are infrequent, marking Peat’s move as notable. He becomes the third player to transition between these rivals in recent years, following ex-Wildcats Adama Fall and Jacob Kongaika, who made successful switches to Tempe.
Peat is the fourth transfer addition for Arizona this spring, and notably, the second offensive lineman. Earlier, the Wildcats signed former Albany guard/tackle Chance Roberts. Additionally, the program has plans to further bolster its offensive line with seven more players set to arrive this summer, including six high school recruits and junior college transfer Siale Uluave from College of San Mateo.
As the Wildcats gear up for the upcoming season, Peat’s acquisition signifies a strategic step towards enhancing the team’s offensive line and building a stronger foundation for future success.
