Small Plane Crash in Tennessee Claims Lives of All Three Passengers

On Saturday morning, a single-engine plane, a Mooney M20TN, crashed near the Upper Cumberland Regional Airport in Sparta, Tennessee, resulting in the deaths of all three people on board. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that the crash occurred shortly after 11:50 a.m., following lost communication between the aircraft and the Memphis Air Traffic Control Center. According to airport director Dean Selby, the plane was descending toward the airport after departing from Alabama when it went down.

Emergency responders, including fire and rescue teams, began searching for the wreckage, which was located with the assistance of an aerial search from another airport plane. Selby noted that the crash site was in a remote area. The FAA has initiated an investigation into the incident, with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) set to take the lead in the inquiry, arriving on-site the following day.

The identities of the victims have not been disclosed, as the airport awaits notification of their next of kin. This tragic incident follows a series of recent plane crashes across the U.S., each resulting in the loss of all passengers. In the month prior, a plane went down in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, hitting a home, followed by another crash in upstate New York and two additional incidents last weekend in Nebraska and Illinois, where three and four individuals were killed, respectively. The frequency of these accidents has raised concerns within the aviation community.
