Phoenix Man Charged with Animal Cruelty for Alleged Cockfighting Operation
PHOENIX (CNN, KYMA/KECY) – A Phoenix man, Victor Espinoza, has been arrested on animal cruelty charges after police uncovered evidence of a cockfighting ring at his properties while investigating an unrelated armed robbery. Glendale Police Department (GPD) officers discovered dozens of roosters, metal spurs, and a large trophy during their initial investigation.
Further examination revealed detailed records including a notebook listing names and cash earnings, along with leather wraps and medication intended for the roosters. In subsequent searches at another property, officers found additional roosters, many showing signs of injury.
