Leif Fautanu Signs with Detroit Lions as Undrafted Free Agent
Arizona State center Leif Fautanu has signed a contract with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent following the 2025 NFL Draft, the Sun Devil Football team announced. The details of Fautanu’s contract have not yet been disclosed.
During his two-year tenure at ASU, Fautanu participated in 26 games and made a significant impact on the field. Notably, he logged the third-most snaps among active FBS centers, totaling 3,329. His exceptional skill was highlighted by an impressive 89.3 pass-blocking grade, ranking him first nationally among centers and seventh overall across all players.
Fautanu was instrumental in helping the Sun Devils achieve 2,799 rushing yards in a season, marking the 14th-highest total in school history. The 6-foot-2, 315-pound center demonstrated remarkable durability and performance, allowing just four pressures throughout the season— a figure that ranks among the lowest for centers. In 2023, he was recognized as the Sun Devils’ offensive MVP and earned honorable mention for the Pac-12 All-Conference team, showcasing his ability by playing every snap at center (851).
Throughout the season, Fautanu allowed only two sacks and three quarterback hits, further solidifying his reputation as a reliable and effective player. Following the draft, Fautanu joins fellow undrafted teammate Xavier Guillory, who recently signed with the Baltimore Ravens, to continue their professional football journeys after Cam Skattebo was the sole Sun Devil drafted by the New York Giants in the fourth round.
Fautanu’s addition to the Lions reflects the team’s commitment to strengthening their offensive line as they head into the new season.
