Arizona Cardinals Achieve Flawless Draft

Arizona Cardinals Complete Strong 2025 Draft Class

ARIZONA – The Arizona Cardinals concluded their 2025 draft with a defensive-focused strategy, earning high praise from Pro Football Focus (PFF), which awarded them an A+ grade—one of only three teams to achieve this honor alongside Carolina and Dallas.

The Cardinals made seven selections, predominantly on the defensive side, aiming to bolster their postseason prospects following an eight-win season. Notably, they picked Michigan cornerback Will Johnson in the second round. Johnson, despite a significant injury that impacted his 2024 season, showcased impressive talent during his time at Michigan, posting a 57.2 passer rating in coverage—ranking in the 94th percentile over the past three years. His pairing with breakout cornerback Garrett Williams is expected to strengthen a unit that struggled defensively last season.

General manager Monti Ossenfort remarked on the draft strategy, noting, “It wasn’t the plan at all…we were always going to take the guy who was higher on our board." The Cardinals’ draft class also includes defensive talents like Ole Miss DL Walter Nolen and Oregon EDGE Jordan Burch, reinforcing their commitment to improving the defense as they look toward a brighter future.
