Miami Dolphins Move Up to Acquire Arizona Offensive Lineman

Miami Dolphins Bolster Offensive Line with Jonah Savaiinaea in 2025 NFL Draft

Miami Dolphins fans got a much-anticipated boost to their offensive line during the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, selecting guard/tackle Jonah Savaiinaea from Arizona with the 37th overall pick. This strategic move involved a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders, where Miami exchanged its 48th and 98th picks, along with a fourth-round selection (135th) to acquire this valuable asset along with a fifth-round pick (143rd).

Savaiinaea, projected as a starting guard, is expected to solidify the Dolphins’ offensive line alongside Patrick Paul, James Daniels, Aaron Brewer, and Austin Jackson. Notably, this marks the second time in five drafts that the Dolphins have aggressively moved up to secure an offensive lineman, following a similar trade for Liam Eichenberg in 2021.

NFL draft analyst Lance Zierlein praised Savaiinaea as a durable three-year starter with adaptability across multiple positions, despite some limitations at tackle. With 36 career starts and experience as a team captain, the Dolphins hope Savaiinaea will become a key player in their offensive strategy moving forward, marking him as the fifth offensive lineman picked in the first two rounds over recent years.
