Melissa Samuel, a specialty nail artist known for her brand Finesse Your Claws, is making waves in the industry with her bespoke 3-D nail sets. Based in Brooklyn, she has had a star-studded client roster including SZA, Lil Yachty, and Justine Skye. Originally from London, Samuel moved to New York in 2015 and worked at various nail salons before launching her own studio.
During the pandemic, Samuel shifted her focus to creating nails from her apartment, which eventually led to the creation of Finesse Your Claws. Her success can be attributed in part to her muse, influencer Alani Figueroa, also known as “Wuzg00d,” who helped Samuel gain recognition in the industry after Figueroa wore one of Samuel’s custom sets to a Moschino photo shoot.
This exposure led to a collaboration with designer Jeremy Scott, resulting in Samuel opening her own studio in 2020. Finesse Your Claws is a one-woman operation, with Samuel at the helm of creating stunning and unique nail designs for her exclusive clientele.
