The latest national NBC News poll shows that Americans are more eager to vote early this year than before the pandemic. With less than a month until Election Day, 5% of registered voters have already cast their ballots, while 47% plan to vote early. Overall, 52% of voters intend to vote early, compared to 44% planning to vote in person on Election Day. This represents a slight decrease from the 2020 election, where early voting was more popular due to the pandemic. The partisan divide between early voters and Election Day voters remains significant, with Vice President Kamala Harris leading among early voters and former President Donald Trump leading among Election Day voters. The poll surveyed 1,000 registered voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points. The increase in early voting may be due to more states offering early voting options and a higher level of enthusiasm among voters this election cycle.
